Enthusiastic travellers, passionate about art, history and heritage, we fell in love with Saintonge and especially with Saint Jean d’Angely during a holiday staying at a B&B near this charming medieval city with its rich heritage.
It was during our second stay in Saintonge the following year when we fell in love again, this time with an abandoned but beautiful 19th century mansion in Saint Jean d’Angely, once an Ambassador’s residence.
Falling in love twice seemed a bit much!
There was only one thing to do and that was to come and live in Saint Jean d’Angely and bring this characterful old mansion back to life again.
Then a period began with the renovation of the house and garden. Finally, when it ended, the house was furnished with all the items Alice had found in antique fairs and flea markets in Paris and elsewhere with the aim to revive the spirit of this elegant family home.
And now we are delighted to offer you a high quality B&B in our lovingly restored house
We hope you’ll accept our invitation to come and discover the warm and welcoming atmosphere of yesteryear with today’s comforts in La Maison De L’Ambassadeur.
